Its a Wrap!

It’s a Wrap…This year I have been allocated the dubious role of ‘wrapping Queen’ (had special lessons on this, at Harrods in my youth).

As some of us wind down for the winter break and the cost-of-living crisis hits hard, I ponder on what gifting means and how the commercialism of the years of plenty, leave us with feelings of guilt when items of higher value fall out of reach and put us into possible financial crisis in the new year.It brings to mind an article I read some years ago regarding how then Queen, had a tradition of low financial value but high thought and meaning are given the night before Christmas at Balmoral.

This year I have decided to take this idea on board. This of course has involved appropriate family communications!The pleasure of really thinking in depth about an appropriate gift has given me much joy and hopefully this will be felt by the recipients. It’s true to say that the Gaymatters home made multi coloured home wrapped chocolate and jam, is not your idea of a gift but there’s a whole host of gifts on the popular sites for £20.00 or under.
